Douglas C-124A Globemaster II 50-1257

Colin Smedley

Lincoln, United Kingdom

Artist's Description

During The 1950s and 60s the principal heavylift transport of the USAF was the C-124 Globemaster II. During the monsoon season in 1963 C-124A 50-1257 is pictured idling on the threshold at RAF Tengah, Singapore, while a viscious line-squall clears the airfield. There may be something unusual about the mission of this aircaft as its standard hi-vis Dayglo panels have been crudely sprayed over in grey and unit badges and some other markings have been painted out in black.
