Douglas AC-47D Skytrain 43-48892 by

One of many variants of the C-47/DC-3/Dakota design of the late 1930s this Douglas AC-47D pictured at RAF Bovingdon was notable for its long nose and its dayglo hi-vis colour scheme. During the late 1950s and 1960s it was often seen in British skies on its seemingly endless quest to keep the ILS and localiser equipment of military airfields properly calibrated.
