Unusual aircraft, whats the history. Great shot by the way.

  • Not unusual in its day but rare now the Provost was a trainer for the RAF, and others, that had more poke than a Chipmunk but was not such a handful as a Harvard. It was well liked, so much so that when a jet primary trainer was required they used the wings, cockpit and tail on the new aircraft, called unsurprisingly “Jet Provost”!

Great shot. Didn’t get my hands on one of these either. – Ted

  • Thanks a lot Ted! It’s a bit more pokey than a Winjeel, too!
