Artist's Description

The only Mk IIb version of the Hurricane flying in Europe, BE505 has bomb racks under the wings and twelve Browning .303in machine guns. The photo shows Peter Teichmann bringing the “Hurribomber” round on short finals for landing at RAF Waddington. Entering service after the Battle of Britain this was the type of aircraft that enabled the RAF to take the air war to the Wehrmacht and was widely used until being replaced by the Typhoon Ib.
