Great shot of this pair Colin. – Ted

  • Thanks Ted. I was lucky with the weather, this was about the only ten minutes of sunshine all day!

    Good shot Colin.
There are two Lancasters in Australia – unfortunately neither is flying (or likely to).
One is in the War Memorial in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory and was used by RAAF aircrew. The other is in the suburbs of Bull Creek, Perth, Western Australia and is ex French Aeronavale and was obtained from a French Pacific Ocean island.

  • Thanks Muz. I remember once finding a Lancaster nose when I was exploring a shed at Croydon Airport. It’s now in the Science Museum in London.

Lets Hope Just Jane Can Afford the Airworthy Certificate !! £200,000 !!

  • I should think so Colin, that’s only the cost of one flight-ready engine!

Wonderful capture & comp, Colin! There’s only one left in Canada that still flies & you always know it’s Lancaster when it flies over our house on its way to an airshow!

  • Thanks very much Laurie! Back in 1977, when “your” Lancaster was at Strathallan in Scotland I helped to remove the nose fairing prior to the turret being refitted.

WOW! That’s so cool, Colin!! Now when I see it, or hear it flying over, I will think of you having worked on it! :))
