Artist's Description

The Nord Pingouin is a French license-built version of the Messerschmitt Bf108 communications aircraft. Because of its design similarity to the Bf109 it as often, like G-ETME operated by the 108 Flying Group, painted in WW2 fighter squadron colours for use in Battle of Britain re-enactment scenarios. Built in 1945 it originally had a Renault engine replacing the Argus of the German version, but G-ETME has been modified with a modern Lycoming power plant. It is pictured banking round the curved display line at Old Warden in 2007 against a clear blue sky, trailing smoke to simulate combat damage.
