Messerschmitt Me163B Komet 191904 by 

One of the very rare occasions when a captured WW2 Me 163 rocket fighter was displayed in the open air was at the Biggin Hill Air Fair in 1985 when Komet 191904 of the RAF Museum Reserve Collection was shown minus its usual “25” coding.

    What a brilliant capture, I’ve read about these but it must have been amazing to see one. Great image.

  • Thanks for the fave Nigel! It’s a pity but the kind of liquid fuel used by the rocket engine is considered too dangerous to play with now. The aircraft had an unfortunate habit of blowing up on take-off which has put off any attempt at flying one under power since the war.
