    Great image, love the pilot sitting on the plane!

  • Fred Grundy, the pilot, would have laughed to think this young mechanic had been taken for him! The groundcrew chap was sitting there in the sun waiting for his mate to come from the other side of the airfield with a part, probably a fuel filter, so the before flight servicing could be completed. Fred was the RAF Tornado F.3 demo pilot for about 4 years, he lived just around the corner from me.
