My story about this shot! Yesterday (1/5/10) I left IRSC’s Ft. Pierce campus and took a different route home, just to explore new areas of Ft. Pierce and also discovered another section of the campus I wasn’t aware of which also has other “businesses”. This is where I saw this scene as I drove by. I didn’t stop yesterday because I was going back today. I drove into the entrance ignoring or not really noticing the small signs on the tall black chain link fence, even the stop signs on the opened gate as I drove through. I parked, grabbed my camera and proceeded to walk to the small lake and started snapping a few pics. I was changing lenses when this nice, good-looking police officer walked up and asked if I was taking pictures for school. “No”, I said, “but I am a student.” He casually mentioned that I was trespassing on HOMELAND SECURITY property! I was like, I had no idea and thought is was just part of the campus and the plane crash in the lake looked cool.
Longer story short, I asked if I could get a couple more shots, he obliged and then escorted me back to my car as he mentioned all the warning signs that I missed and that my car was parked in front of a gun range! So I didn’t get a chance to find out why the “crashed” plane was there. Oh well, it was cool “practice run” anyway!
Blindly we go as our mind and eyes are set on the next photo opportunity!
