The original which was executed in OIL PASTEL on Cartridge paper depicts a view from under the stairs in the house where I grew up. In the background, the first landing window stretched the whole way to the top of the house. You can probably see the hint of venetian blinds on the window. At Christmas time my Dad used to hang lots of multi-coloured fairylights on the blinds in the shape of a Christmas tree and leave the blinds slightly open. From outside it looked like we had the biggest Christmas tree in Ireland. It was so effective.
I executed this piece when I was about 22 years of age.
