My very first Oil Painting…I painted this quite a few years ago (maybe 1995-1996). The original of this painting was painted on 16″×12″ canvas board. I’ve named it ‘Ode to an Urn’ as it reminds me of my favourite poem. Ode on a Grecian Urn by John Keats. I also love one of his other ‘Odes’ Ode to a Nightingale …if I could only find myself a nightingale. ![]()

A beautiful piece of art, Orla. Agnes xx
This is soooo nice, Orla! And I especially like the roundness to the vase – you’ve really got it down! – Pat
That’s exactly what I had to do this evening, Orla, to add a couple of framed pieces to RB. I had to take photos off to the side a bit so the reflection of the flash wouln’t show – consequently, to then make it rectangular, parts of several sides had to vanish. What we won’t do for an RB post, right?! LOL – Pat
Isn’t your title from taken from a Keats poem? This is beautiful. :)
I remember learning that poem at high school – the whole poem had a real sense of timelessness and stillness about it, just like your painting. The title is so apt! :)
