FATE OR RANDOM CHANCE

Is it fate or random chance?

That we have evolved from a single-cell organism to be the dominating species of the world, and yet, we still cannot seem to leave the school-yard sandbox.

We are gifted with reasoning that gives us the proclivity of self-awareness. We hate, we can love; we can be kind, we can be cruel; we can exhibit prejudice, or we can have tolerance.

However, what have the results of history truly taught us?
That we are no better than the ants that dig their holes for their own cause-some more elaborate than others?

We escaped the tyranny of England, so that we might have freedom. Then we turn around and take freedom away from the Native Americans, because we believe ourselves to be better than they are. We enslave man because of his color, and the inability to challenge us. And now…apparently not learning from out mistakes, we try to rob the homosexuals of their freedom
-VOTING to see if they should have the same freedom as the conventional man.

How much better then have we become after more than two hundred years of history and school books?

Technology has increased, yet our mentality remains as misguided as ever.

Does it give us a sense of accomplishment or superiority, to know that we decide the fates of others with prejudice, which—according to history, has only shown us to be ignorant and cruel?

Will we ever learn?

We rob ourselves of life’s treasures, when we rob others; something dies inside, though we may not see it.

And yet we stand tall with our self-righteous indignation, feeling that we have accomplished something great. Where in reality we are no better than the bully in the sandbox.

And how can we ever hope to leave the sandbox; when we are incapable of seeing what truly matters

Prejudice kills while we hide behind our own sense of false insecurities and ignorance. And we embrace this vagary, like a religious man who thinks he sees the truth. Just who the hell do we think we are…?
