My name’s Maggie and I live in Northeast Scotland. I’ve been interested in photography since I bought my first camera (a Kodak 200) at the age of 17, but I didn’t pursue it seriously. My lovely husband bought me several cameras over the years and with each new camera my interest grew. I’ve had a couple of SLR cameras which I didn’t really know how to use – a Canon AV-1 and a Nikon F80. The Canon, a second hand camera, has been my absolute favourite. It took good pictures. The Nikon F80 was way too complicated for me and sadly hasn’t had much use. Two Christmases ago my husband bought me a Sony a350 DSLR and I signed up for a 10 week digital photography course with the Open University. Now I understand how SLR cameras work but too late for the poor Nikon! I think the digital age has made it easier to understand (for me anyway) how cameras work as you can see instant results.
My relationship with the Sony has been a bit of a love/hate relationship, but as my knowledge has increased I’ve been able to get some decent images from it.
I’ve discovered a love of floral photography and have seen some fabulous images on RedBubble that have inspired me to learn more and improve my skills.
Update: recently upgraded my equipment to a Canon EOS 50D – I’m getting to quite like it!
Update on the update!! : Now using a Canon EOS 6D and loving it.
