The sensation of being there is really apparent from these 6×7 Velvia shots you’re uploading. It’s especially apparent here. I can only imagine what the original films look like…Well I suppose I can; like my 6×6 ones, but bigger and better! This is making me want to put some Velvia in my old 6×9 Voigtlaender Jason. Lovely work mate!

  • Cheers Brett, a pleasure as always! I really like my set of shots from Bermagui – more to come soon that I got my negs mixed up when scanning from :) Funny you mentioned the 6×9′s, I was actually considering getting an old Voigtlaender just for the 6×9 format, but doubt it’d really appeal to my style of shooting (no filter thread on the front for filters I’m assuming). Is it sharp?

  • Just realised even if it’s sharp it wouldn’t be coated.. but I’m sure it’s a heck of a lot of fun to shoot with :)

Surprisingly, because Velvia is such a contrasty film, an old uncoated lens with less contrast can actually help to tame that. Sharpness? Well, I wouldn’t expect too much wide open; but stopped down it’s a lot better, and, with 6×9, who cares?
    Cheers mate,

  • Good point on the contrast! But as for res, I love my detail… I’d love to be able to make 30″×45″ prints for example, so would want it to resolve as well as the Mamiya lenses :) But it’s an old cam, I shouldn’t expect so much. But I’d shoot it at f22, stopped down that far it should bring the best of it out. Whats the focal lenth of your voigt?
