Polyrhachis ammon, AKA the Golden-Tailed Spiny Ant, or Golden-Spined Ant averages between 8mm & 11mm long and is very common throughout bushland in the Brisbane area where this was found.

Shot June 2010 with a Canon 7D, 100mm f/2.8 L lens & kenko extension tubes. Processed in Photoshop CS5.
