Another tricky shot. I had to clamber up some rocks and balance on a fallen tree trunk in an extremely awkward angle to get this one.

In retrospect, I wish I got a little more adventurous and went a little further for a nicer angle, but I’m still happy with the results.

NATURALLY, I could’ve saved myself some trouble with composition had I remembered about live view BEFORE twisting my back on the tree trunk!

Shot on the 10th of October 2009 at Binna Burra (Lamington National Park) QLD with a Canon 450d and a 17-40 f/4L at 40mm.

3 shots, processed in photomatix.
Shutter: 13, 3.2, and 0.8 second exposures.
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 100

Excellent work on the HDR, looks very natural and the white balance looks correct. The angle looks fine and composition is superb…don’t get too adventurous and put yourself in danger! :-)

  • Thanks David, I really appreciate your encouragement mate! I could’ve gotten further without too much drama I think, but had the missus waiting further back and didn’t want to take too long in one spot with good morning light – was a 19km circuit! Thanks again buddy really appreciate it!

Mate – this is a technically great shot. Very sharp and great exposure – especially sitting on a log bending (unnecessarily) over a view-finder!

  • Ta Stef, I like the look, but seems a little bit flat. Curves helped a bit but not much can be done about the comp. Thanks again buddy, gotta remember bloody live view!

I really like this! The deep tones of the water and the vivid greens of the foliage are really nice against the foreground rocks. Great comp! Also like the reflection of the waterfall on the water :)

  • Thanks :)

Very nice: I appreciate what you mean about clambering about on rocks in rivers in an attempt to get “the best” angle. Really like the reflection at the bottom of this fall.

  • Thanks Paul, really apprecaite your comment. The lengths we go to for that perfect shot eh. :) Ta.
