On the night, it was drizzling which meant there was less than the usual crowd of people walking around the area.
I waited a while for an interesting, lone subject to come along. The rain picked up and was having no luck so I went back to the Starbucks across the street to take a break from the downpour. I returned a half hour later when the rain subsided somewhat and waited again. This time, I saw a night watchman storming toward me so I waited for the moment he was square in the frame and I was lucky enough that the random number generator just so happen to hit “24”. I only took one shot the whole time and this was the resulting shot with no cropping and very little post processing.
Since I got into medium format film, I became a lot more selective with my shots due to economic reasons. So there it is – street photography is a bit of planning, patience, dedication but mostly luck and timing.
