Austin, Texas during SXSW

As I crouched in front of this vehicle at 4am and snapped this with my 1979 Yashica GS, I thought to myself:

“You fool, it’s so dark and you have no flash and a 200ISO film in here.”

When I picked it up from the lab yesterday I thought:

“You fool, why did you not shoot the whole roll at night, this 1.7 lens is a WINNER.”

Always learning, always learning.

Hello, I have no idea what I am doing.

LOL! Did you write a note to yourself? Great night shot! Love the DOF! xoxox

  • I often write to myself, I send myself letters, when I get them it’s like my past self communicating with my future self. Pity is I can’t write back.

Sorry. Did you meet anyone interesting at SXSW? Not necessarily @ 4am.

  • I did, I met a man called David, a filmaker, who was quite one of the more interesting specimens on the plant. And a lovely chap called George who seemed to like me so much he posted me a reasonably rare record. Double win.

Woah, 4am? Even that’s too early for me!
Cool shot, love the tonal atmosphere, is it really straight from camera? Not just a little bit of tweaking? Shall I wash my fingers out with soap now?

  • It really is, when I get home I will snap myself holding it. Not that that proves anything either of course. Such is the danger of the digital age….

Haha, I am playing with film at the moment, only because it was gifted to me, and none of mine have turned out at all! Hence, at this moment, digital works for me.
But, I can’t wait till I get it right.

I’ve got a roll of 200iso in my yashica T5 right now. Its a crappy, windy, rainy, cold March day here and I think its time to play. Inspirational work here.
