Foamboard, Batteries and LEDs

After seeing the community post on light painting yesterday, I thought I’d throw up some of the work I have been doing with LEDs.

It’s actually for a stop motion film idea I have, except it’s going to take until 2046 to complete, I expect, so to feel like something is being achieved I have made some colourful wavy stills to please the occipital.

I recommend this as a way to pass dark winter evenings.

Great experimenting onetonshadow ! I used do create images using this kind of paiting with light technique about 25 years ago. I’ll try and find some old slides and upload them to show you some of my old experimenting.

I have some ideas in my head that I have never tired yet and will let you know when I get around to them this summer ( its spring here now in Canada )

    Keep up the great work!

    Woah, these are completely brilliant.

Nifty! I wonder if using black foamboard would make the light a little sharper. White doesn’t appear to be noticeable though, I guess the light doesn’t go downwards towards the surface.

I thought the same, and had every intention to paint them. However I also had every intention of going and picking up my soldering iron and actually buying some fuseboards to mount them in, but got totally carried away. It seems to work alright though. But I expect I will black them out sooner or later.

    Do something for me?
Dance to a certain song, while swinging those lovely lights arounds.. actually, just dance across the room in a straight line

Take a shot just like the first in this batch…
Then, we`ll use the lines and superimpose/photoshop the musical score onto them.

Once you`ve done that, we`ll print it huge like, and sell it for a zillion. Deal?

    Ever the commentary gentleman.

It’s merely a step int he direction of something grander. That will probably take too long to explain to your brain, so you will just have to watch how impressed everyone else is.

    replied

Well it’s not cheating really. The neon thing would be fun. I’ve been meaning to get one. The stills for my film were not as I had hoped and I think a neon light would be better.
