always midnight
I can vaguely remember catching a train to Paris from London Waterloo shortly after it opened in 1994, only a couple of years late I think.
And 13 years later they moved it to St Pancras in north London, well, further north than Waterloo anyway.
That means that the enormous addition that messed up the side of the original station is now derelict, has been for a while now, probably will be until the Channel Tunnel licence ends and other operators can run trains to Europe.
These are the boarded up old gates you walked through, customs if you will, to get to the platforms. The clock no longer ticks. Actually I can’t say ‘midnight’ or Pete will bash me round the face with his army boots.

It looks so quiet for such a busy place … It also looks like a giant snail has wandered along just before you arrived.

That’s exactly what happened.
I had to wait for it to get out of shot.

Wow – I think I remember going through there… it’s got such a whacky sense of scale.
Nice.
