Artist's Description

Inspired by Disney’s Fantasia (1940 version). For the benefit of anyone who doesn’t know, the film ends with A Night on Bald Mountain and Ave Maria— essentially a forest scene to Schubert’s famous tune, where the trees take on the shapes of a church arched together like stained glass. Right at the end the camera moves through the forest in a brilliant 3d effect by means of a multiplane camera.

Speculation is, Disney was working out his religious convictions in these two pieces.

Outstanding stuff from Disney. In fact the whole movie is excellent fantasy.

Recommended viewing for any artist into fantasy work.
