The Prayer
Thanks for viewing.
Few people there are who have not turned to prayer at some point in their lives. Many find hope and answers; others become bitter.
The lighting on this was very complex. Hope you enjoy it.

Ste. Joan? ..................... brilliant work rob….. the light cast on the floor and your subject is beautiful to behold…............b
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Butch. The lighting to long time to set up—to get it to go through the windows just the way I wanted.

Walter Colvin
Beautiful Image, nice work with the light, Well done
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Walter. As I said to Butch, complex light set up, to look slightly volumetric. Took ages.

Looks like Sophitia from Soul Calibur to me. Hey! Just me, can’t help it. :-D
Robert O'Neill replied
Suppose it does look a bit like it. Pure coincidence. Still it is nice to be compared to something else.
Cheers
Rob
Magaret Meintjes
Very touching, great techs, love it, well done!
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Mags. It stretched my PC to the limit to render it. Once I get to Scotland, I shall need an upgrade.
Rob
Leno
very skillful work ….I like it!
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks leno.

Leslie Hagen
Lovely. Is this computer work or a real person? It is really hard to tell
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Leslie—so kind. Yes, it is 3D. I used Carrara to pose, light and render. I ran out of memory (4 gig) so I couldn’t turn on Global Illumination, which gives it that extra touch or realism. Need several machines linked for an image like this.
Happy to know you like it.

Shanina Conway
Beautiful lovely work…full of emotion;)
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Shanina. Yes, I wanted it to be very emotional. Hopefully I achieved something of that.
Rob
Antanas
great composition, perfect lighting, well done
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Antanas. As I said, the lighting especially was very complex and maxed out the computer as it rendered. Glad you enjoy the result.

suzee
Love what you have done here Rob, you have captures the essence of prayre. The lighting is awesome.
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Suzee. Hopefully, I captured something of it’s essence. Glad you like it.

The lighting’s exceptional alright. Well done.
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Simon. Sometimes it’s possible to ‘fake’ certain lighting effects in Photoshop or After Effects, etc. But all the lighting here is from Carrara.

Tony Ryan
Great image once again. I wonder if the great benefit of prayer is that it forces us to slow down in the mind and body. That once we do this we start to disconnect from the stress many of us exist under.
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Tony. Yes, I wonder that you are not correct. Meditation and focusing seem to have been studied more, especially with NLP implications and so forth.
Prayer seems to have been less studied-
certainly it is almost universally practiced-most people have prayed at some point in their lives. In fact, most of the world is religious—very few strict atheists out there. But who knows what’s going on inside a person’s head and heart.Maggieposh
Great work Rob….And very True word’s ! Mp
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Maggie. Glad you like it.
Rosina Lamberti
wow this is superb!
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks Rosina
Gary L. Suddath
very creative,all Crusaders wert men
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks for the view Gary. Perhaps, as butch said, Joan of Arc was the most famous Medieval female soldier, but there were others. I didn’t try to pin it down to specific person—sometimes ambiguity lets us draw our own conclusions.
All the best Gary

Sory for the ones that feel bitter.
May be they have not “prayed” in a soulful way.
Sometimes a prayer is a singing of silence… and submission to Life.
Difficult….yes.
Nowadays… she is feeling in contact with her spiritual resources…
So far away from our fountain we are..
we have to look up…
instead of down…
out instead of in…
so our Soul… flees from the core..
and then..
we become bitter….
Rosa (she is a young love… and her prayer is pure… I know)
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks for the view Rosa. I think you have explained it so well. Prayer is a misunderstood thing, I think, inside religion and out.
Avril Brand
I cannot even begin to imagine how you made this! To say its brilliant would be an understatement.
Robert O'Neill replied
Thanks a lot Avril. It is a 3D work. I used a program called Carrara to pose, light and render. The models are commercial.
Glad you like it

Thanks Trevor. It was an experiment in lighting—I had been inspired by a piece I had seen at the Napoleonic Museum in Switzerland.
