Bedford 3 ton 4×2 OY model. At the NYMR War Weekend at Le Visham (Levisham) Station occupied by the Germans. Obviously captured at Dunkirk no doubt and being used by the German army.

Great shot of this iconic old vehicle Ted – my mother would have recognised this one. She was a district nurse in WWII in a rural area and she told me that if she saw a military convoy coming along behind her she used to stop, jump out quick and lift the bonnet on her old Austin 7 and look helpless ! Quite often ’ tail-end-charlie ’ used to stop and offer her a tow. She saved heaps of petrol this way for her own use off duty……lol !

  • Thanks for dropping in and the comment. Mother was on the ball . . . lol. – Ted

    Wow! Way cool!

  • Thanks Trenton. I used to own one of these when I was in the Military Vehicle Club I ran in the 70/80’s. This one was a surprise at the War Weekend in the German section. – Ted

Remember riding round in the back of one of these at various local and military shows :)

  • I bet you do Joy. I remember it well. We did a few miles in it to shows didn;t we. I wonder where it is now? – Ted
