Artist's Description

The Malipenga Dance is one of the dances of the Tumbuka people of Northern Malawi, in which the locals imitate the British colonial police officers by donning khaki and dancing in formation. This was taken at the lucheon after Archaeology Day, a convention held by the Malawi Earlier-Middle Stone Age Project (MEMSAP (http://www.memsap.org/)) at the Cultural and Museum Centre Karonga (CMCK (http://www.palaeo.net/cmck/)).
