Oil Painting from a photograph of Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle – Carlisle line. Apparently the engine is a Jubilee Class steam engine and the diesel following is for train heating purposes only. (So my husband tells me, I believe him.)
railway, silhouette, viaduct, engine, steam, ribblehead
I knew where this was from the thumbnail, great work :)

Thanks Neil, glad you liked the atmosphere of this painting, I really enjoy doing silhouettes – Olive
Great work Olive. The diesel notwithstanding, I can imagine this as the basis of a 30’s travel poster. That diesel is a Sulzer Type 2, I think, must be one of the ETHELs .
Thank you Paul for your encouraging comment. – Olive
So atmospheric and the like shining through the train windows really highlights a wonderful sillhouette – a real fav for me as I have walked along this bit of the viaduct when it was opened to the public
Thank you for your encouraging comment and fav. I would have replied earlier but have been on holiday. – Olive
This is super, I love how simple yet effective it is. It really makes me want to take a steam engine ride!
