Grandpa
White and black pencils on colored canson paper.
This is a portrait of my grandpa, a WW2 veteran. He turned 88 this year :)
This is a picture of the drawing in progress, before it was “finished,” and like this version better than the final one. I am glad that I took pictures of the drawing throughout the progress.
This is the finished version (note: RB messes up sharpness/contrast of uploaded image)

Wow, I just posted a drawing of my late Dad, WWII navy vet. This is wonderful – remarkable work. My daughter told me RB uploads are altered from the file, and I see here how right she is! Wow! The version to the right is far more finished looking. You have captured his great dignity.

Thanks :) Actually these are 2 pictures taken at different stages of the drawing. The one on the right is the finished version, while the other one is just a shot of the drawing in progress. RB alters and sharpness/contrast… the drawing itself is much softer than it looks when uploaded onto RB.

I love the look you have captured in his eyes. And I agree with you I like the unfinished better – although both are fabulous :) I’ve noticed with my work RB saturates colour so I always desaturate it but a fraction before uploading.

I love this! i see what you mean about the unfinished version you have captured his personality without over fussing, something I’m always guilty of myself :) They both look great though!!!
