Waves: Australia series #6
The Kimberley
Vast…Ancient…Unexplored…Legendary…
This place is unique in the World, so many mysteries, so many nooks and crannies are yet to be scarred by the footprint of man…white man that is.
Aboriginal people lived here for tens of thousands of years, coexisting with the rocks and sand and plants and animals, only taking what was needed to survive…
And moving on
I do not know what forces created the waves of the Kimberley…wind, water, volcanic eruption? All I know is that the land has been left beautifully sculpted, and then dotted here and there with stands of tough desert trees that scream out at the World “I am a survivor!”
And survive against all odds they do, in pockets, their backs to the wall, nurturing each other while denying each other those things so precious and vital for existence, water, air, light…a few kilometres to the left and the hard quartz denies plant roots purchase, a few kilometres to the right and water is non-existent, except in the dim memory of the stones that once lay at the bottom of the oceans that covered this Country, this Kimberley.

Its always the words that make you want to look at the Image again and again
Kim Grace replied
Well as you know, this country reaches into your chest and grabs your heart and that is it, you are doomed to never leave its shores for too long cos it makes your heart ache too much, so the words are a way of trying to make others who have not seen it understand somehow :)
How are you, chelle, ok I hope?
Rochelle Boardman
Yeah pretty good, working a lot, but thats what you get for swanning around Europe for months, how are you?, you heading back to the rigs soon?
