Grazed: Australia series #2
This painting represents the state of my country where cattle and sheep have been grazing on very poor land for a hundred years. The tracks from every part of vast open rangelands lead to life-giving waterholes, forming beautiful but damaging scars upon the landscape. Fenced bushland in the lower corner shows what once was and can never be again…
This land has a ravaged beauty
It seems so harsh but is so fragile
It is ancient and deserves our awe

How are you viewing these landscapes…do you have an aeroplane? I am asking sincerely and not at all being smart about this question. I do know of other artists who own planes and don’t find this a strange question.
Kim Grace replied
Good question…it is a combination of what i have seen when i travel by plane up north or over east and when i have driven through the country, just an image that is in my pea sized brain, may have been there for years but it all comes out on the canvas and guides the old hand…i sometimes do rough sketches of country that impresses me but i never use photographs, it is all imagination…sick, hey?
PERUGINA
Thanks for that clarification Kim, appreciate it.
All the best with the series and keep at it!
