30 × 30 Acrylics on Canvas

Growing up in the 80’s I used to love watching the two funny men on the telly my dad would laugh as the little man would serve the man who asked for four candles, when actualy he was asking for “Fork handles, handles for forks”.

We then used to watch the bigger of the two without white hair in a prison with his cellmate Godber, I liked Godber as he talked like me and all those around me in the West Midlands.

That Tv series was called “Porridge” and it stared the late great “Ronnie Barker”

I loved painting this one as a lot of great memories came trickling back and I chuckled as I painted.

RIP 1929 -2005

Seeing your painting I think of lines like :‘You dozey nerk, Godber’.
You have his eyes, eye brow distance, deep lines of his forehead, turn of the head, chubby jowls are all perfect. As if posed for from a scene in Porridge – well done.
