Taken 11 February 2012…
Newly-abandoned farmette on Butler Hill Road just east of Inlet Road, in Lee Co., Illinois. The house is set back a bit from the roadway, but this 3-car garage/barn/shed (?) sits right at the road’s edge. I’ll be going back to this one…it was -12 windchill today!

farm, garage, barn, dilapidated, abandoned, illinois, country, prairie
Most of my photos are – more or less – sootc. I’ll tweak contrast and brightness on a few, or convert to sepia or B&W, but aside from that, it’s usually just straightening and cropping. I do have fun with a few pix, but that’s rare for me. I use an old Fuji E550 FinePix P&S, exclusively.

Wasn’t it freezing (below freezing) yesterday? Brrrr. I like this building. One, because it is red, and two because it has the American flag on it. Great find!!
It was REALLY cold, Sheryl – too damn cold to get outta the truck! I’ll go back and explore further on a warmer day.

Wow! Good one! The colors really pop on this! (Don’t you find COLD enhances color, even though it’s such a pain to try and take the shot??) I remember back in ‘94 ~ Chicago ~ when it got to 35 below. In those days I had to walk to the El, like it or not. lol! The colors were ETHEREAL. Of course my camera, a Canon AE-1 (film) froze solid so I can’t prove the point! ha This is really striking, Claude!
Ugh! I was still working the street then and the freakin’ wind chills were -80!!!! There wasn’t enough coffee in the STATE to warm you up after working a 2-hr crash scene or the like! But I do remember how clear and sharp everything looked. :))
