An abandoned farm just north and a little east of Amboy, Illinois, that I went back to for a more closer look. This is the frame addition that was attached to the original (stucco) house (visible with the chimney still attached). Held a commanding view of the surrounding countryside – Must have been great…in its time. :))

Most of my photos are – more or less – sootc. I’ll tweak contrast and brightness on a few, or convert to sepia or B&W, but aside from that, it’s usually just straightening and cropping. I do have fun with a few pix, but that’s rare for me. I use an old Fuji E550 FinePix P&S, exclusively.

Even in its run down condition, this old home still has a lot of charm! Very well done!

  • Thank you, Vivian! Can’t keep away from this one – going back, maybe, tomorrow. :))

And you have to wonder what the heck occurred… ! We see a lot of these as well. There’s one just down the road and there are often people there trying to fix it up, except I think it’s past recovery. Great shot!

Love your work! Such a familiar ring to it. I grew up near KCMO, but was up to my grandparents farms in Northern MO all the time! Wonderful shots! :O)))

  • Thank you, Linda! The rural areas of IL and MO really aren’t that different, are they? :))

I’m sure you are right… I’ll bet it was a very pretty place once… nice shot !

  • Thanks, Hon. This one keeps changing a l’il every time I stop there. Whoever owns it now has been renovating the barn. Dunno if there’s any plans for the house. :))
