Originally the horses were heads down into a bail of hay and in-fact, I only saw two of them when I pulled my car over. A camper covered in a blue tarp next to the red barn was directly behind the horses. I planted myself on the road to compose the red barn to exclude the camper with blue tarp and waited about 30 minutes, it was only 4 degrees on a frosty morning & I have to admit putting my hands into my armpits to keep my fingers warm. Finally one of the horses became curious and started to walk away from the hay & a bit towards me. It was at this point I saw there was a 3rd horse. A couple of click-clicks with my tongue and the other two started towards me. I snapped a few shots and quicky had to take this one when then came a little closer and the fence along the road would obstruct them. I was so lucky, they walked into my frame. It was the patience and some luck that this is my favourate shot.
