Abstract Digital Paint in CS5

An exercise in Critical Thinking

I am in a place that has exactly one hundred windows. I look through every one at least once a day and see only one view. The idea of conveying this view and its positive effect on my current therapies has led me to further examine the process of Critical Thinking. It has become a vital part of my artwork and creative approach and is a natural extension of my use of Mental Calibration, as featured in other works on here. Such tools have enabled me to now widen my approach and develop my style in many directions.
The image itself is made up of exactly one hundred layers of digital paintwork in a dry media format. Starting out as a traditional landscape, the image then took shape in a more abstract form as each new layer contributed a slight variation of the view to form a cohesive representation. The landscape element has remained in the composition and does become more apparent through further views of the piece. This is intended to mirror my own perspective as the artist, gaining more insight to the view through each window. The saturation and simplicity of the palette is intended to portray the strength of the view and its resulting positivity.
This has already become an important piece to me as the three-week process of the work has enabled me to gain a much stronger and focused understanding of my artistic thought processes and abilities. I feel I have begun to find the place where my art is coming from and have discovered belief in what I have to say as an artist.

a fuller explanation for a fuller understanding and appreciation…. necessary for me since I’m less attracted to these colours and blocks compared to your other work. But, it seems to be growing on me now :)

  • Thank you so much and i hope it grows quickly.
