Silhouette scene on a nikon D7000 with a 105 mm Macro lens. Used a bright external light with this scene, and got this incredible effect. No post processing was done to this picture, its straight from the camera.

So lovely Nicole. I think I have one of these sitting in a flower box. I wanted to check it out this evening and was chased in by the mosquitoes. They know how to tell time around here…. 8:50 pm is when you have to snatch up your belongings and run for the indoors…. which I hate to do on beautiful evenings. Love this shot. Beautiful red!

  • Its a gerbera, I must say I dont really like these flowers, except for photo`s. They stick so well!
What a shame you cant be outside at night, I love spending long evenings in the garden. You could have a little pond and put frogs in it…they`ll eat them LOL

Why don’t you like Gerberas? They are so striking. I usually only have one or two of them around but I love their showy colors. I guess I could slather on bug repellent… not something I feel like doing at 9:00 pm… or I could sit in our gazebo in the dark. But to go into the garden… well… I have lots of bug bites to persuade me to go in. You don’t have that problem?

  • No we dont, not that bad anyways. I do have a rather large pond and theres bugs flying above the water, but they are very tiny and they stay with the water. Must be because we have a different climat, its so much colder here than where you are.
But in general this summer I havent had a whole lot of insects at all, I suspect thats coz I feed the wild birds, they eat the bugs :-)
