I’d love to know more about this brilliant work – is that fog rolling in and is the main source of light a floodlight?

No, it’s not fog but it was very cloudy in that night, and the main source of light was the little village near, you can see a bit of it on the right side =)

do you ever have a problem with noise and hot spots at low light, my 400d’s sensor seems to be really noisey

hmmm there’s an option on the cam to reduce the noise, it takes longer to save the photo to the card but i think it’s worthy. This option only works in long exposures… You could also use low iso’s to prevent the noise ;)
Then you can also remove it in Photoshop or other program, i use Neat Image.
