“Roof Access Stairs” shot on Kodak Ektachrome slide film in either 1995 or 1996. A view of one of the larger rooms of the Armstrong Cork Factory in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. The Cork Factory was designed and built by Frederick John Osterling in 1901. The building was utilized for it’s original purpose until 1974 when all three buildings were left empty. Several other businesses have made their home there but met with little success. The structure has since been renovated into loft apartments. This room was lit by light reflecting off the Allegheny river with some highlights on the upper railing courtesy of an open door.
