SS Grandview - Prow

The Ship first set sail on May 29, 1932. It was built by a Dutch immigrant named Herbert Paulson. Paulsen built the ship around the structure of the original Grand View Hotel. The view from the site had been earlier described as “one of the most magnificant views on the North American continent”. The establishment was to enjoy a number of sucessful years, but this was not to last. When the Pennsylvania Turnpike opened on October 1, 1940, it spelled the beginning of the end for the S.S. Grandview.
Paulsen ran the business as best as he could until his death in 1973. The property was sold to Jack and Mary Loya for the price of $70,000 a few years later.
