This is my vectorized version of Robert Hooke’s great drawing of a flea in his Micrographia.
The copyright of the great original has expired, because in the United States, Canada, the European Union, a copyright term is defined as life of the author plus 70 years…

Robert Hooke, (1635 – 1703) was an English natural philosopher and polymath who played an important role in the scientific revolution, through both experimental and theoretical work.

To think a little thing like that nearly killed everyone in Europe..

  • oh yeah…

but after the newest scientifical proofs, the Black Death was caused by an haemorrhagic feaver similar to Ebola… the last proof we will never have, because no pathogens are existing anymore (THANKS GOD!)… :)

thank you for the visit…. :)

Good work though… Interesting piece of information

  • but you know… as always between scientists… even when it’s the most probable… when no last proof exists, they will fight until the death… everyone standing behind his hypothesis…. this hypothesis with fleas by the way has no more proofs as the newer one… it’s just more common………….

but there is even a new profession: something like historical epidemiologist… and they have proved the old paintings with people having symptoms… and it was something similar to Ebola…..

the flea would never bring it in such fast time to so many places in Europe…. the fact is, that as colder it was, the faster the disease was spreading (average 40 miles a day)… in winter and frost fleas as every insect are dying…..

it only could be, that one human gave it directly to another one…….

Interesting….. I know that when I was young and fleaing my dog, I squashed one between my finger nails, and got some of the blood on me, and became ill. Swallen glands that looked like bruises….
