Scientists (for example in the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen) have made experiments to research the language from the physiological side – how our magic flesh machine – our brain works…

And it was not a big surprise that sentences like:

Cat catches mouse

are not difficult to recognize for our brain. It almost doesn’t need any neurological work (comparing to complex thinking activities) to get aware of such basic linguistic fact. (Analogies) are so deeply burned in our individual, same as cultural or historical existing perception, that we don’t need to use our brain to see the connection…

But what happens if there is a:

Cat catches moon

Reading this sentence, or seeing this linguistic picture brings our neurons to increase their activity!

This simple trick: not to use easy analogical images, but those unexpected combinations, arrests the attention of the reader or viewer fully! And this is the way how good art works…

1. Attract someone’s attention, tear him out of the place and time he is located right now reading your poems, seeing your painting….
