Spring brings out many different kinds of flowers in New Mexico. This bird of Paradise is found throughout New Mexico on the desert blooming in the spring and occasionally the rest of the year.
The only trouble is they come and go very fast – most of them only last part of one day. This was taken on my Canon Eos Rebel XTi and Tamron 28-300mm lens in Las Cruces,NM

flower, bird of paradise

Never travel without a camera – always bringing my camera – feeling ‘naked’ without it!! As old as I’m getting, I still manage to shoot off some pictures.

What an awsome and unusual bouquet. I love the bold mix of colours.

Thank you lacitrouille. This is the very top of the plant out in my garden. It blooms from early summer until Sept.

    G’day david,

    How incredibly, delicately, intricately beautiful!!!!!
Great lighting/exposure/processing has given us an extraordinarily good study of this fleeting flower and knocked the background out very well indeed.
Great focus, depth of field, contrast, colours, central composition and presentation.
    Excellent work that man!
