Ancient Stairway

Ancient Stairway by David DeWitt

Ancient Stairway

This stairway was built in the 1600’s for a house up on a mesa 4-500’ high for safety from their enemies. A stairway was rare. Here, an old blanket and rug are set on the steps.
This is the oldest pueblo settlement still in operation in the U.S.

Ancient Stairway belongs to the following groups:

History, Ruins, Ancient and Derelict Buildings, Stairs, Street Photography and Photojournalism and United States
