Spiders give lots of people the creeps, but if there is one family of spiders that justify the fear it’s the extraordinary dangerous funnel-web spider. The Sydney funnel-web is probably the most dangerous spider (for its size) in the world. Strangely this spider is aggressive, and bites repeatedly and its painful bite is deadly to humans but NOT to many other mammals!! This female was a visitor to my sister’s pool. I’m not sure of the species but suspect Hadronyche formidabilis or Hadronyche infensa.
