Flower Spider - Diaea evanida (or a closely related species) by

This female Crab or Flower spider Diaea evanida (or a closely related species) waited all day to get one of those delicious hover flies so tantalisingly close, but alas… … .. Oh well there’s always tomorrow!

Postscript! The Hover Fliers get reprieve as Miss Flower Spider became prey herself to an Abispa species of Potter Wasp the next morning!!

Amazing detail & patterns. I think I saw one of these on a bottlebrush a while back but it had too many places to hide from my camera.
