Bluish Green Tree Snake - Dendrelaphis punctulata by

This was my second Dendrelaphis in as many days. This specimen was larger (about 1.2m) and a beautiful steely blue compared to the slate grey specimen found the day before. This fellow did not seemed concerned about me pointing the camera at him at first, however once he got sick of modelling he vanished so fast It was as though he had ceased to exist!!

Taken at Emerald Beach, NSW, Australia.

Wow Norm this is gorgeous. These are one of my favourite snakes and to get a pic of a blue and yellow one – wow! Lucky you! Just beautiful!

  • Thank you Tarnycox, my favorite snake as well. I was lucky in that I spotted two of these just one day apart, both beautiful but slightly different colors!

    G’day NORM!

A great find and a great shot mate.
You have nailed the eye beautifully and made a very well composed image of this handsome serpent.
The light was in your favour and the colours a wonderfully natural.

In all my travels I have yet to see one of these in the wild. One day!

    great image Norm.

  • Thanks Steve, this guy was in my front garden (as evidenced by the Corymbia (Eucalyptus) ficifolia in the eastern states). I was on my way out to photograph my grand daughters (hence the lens I had on) and was lucky to be “armed” when I spotted him!!
