South Mainland Up-Helly-Aa 2010.
Everybody marvelled at the graceful lines of the beautifully crafted galley Skidbladnir, so briefly skippered by Jarl Aleksandur Liefsson on 12 March 2010.
Yet she was built for an ephemeral maiden voyage fated to end up in smoke, as over 300 guizers decended on Ninian Sands to watch her burn.
I still remember the cheers from the assembly, both on the beach and on sand dunes when she was launched… Emotional.
Now the sun can return.
