Artist's Description

The Haa of Houss, East Burra, is a 2½ storey Haa, now in ruins. It was built for the Sinclairs of Houss.

The house has been unoccupied since c.1910, when it was occupied by several families. The roof was subsequently torn off for roofing a byre in the 1920’s-30’s, and the south gable demolished in the 1950’s.
