The idea to cryopreserve humans sprang from the pages of sci fi in the 1960s when Robert Ettinger founded the Cryonics Institute; the intention was to get a chance to live longer and take advantage of the progress of technology, cryonics being “a kind of an ambulance to the future". But the concept of being frozen raises some crucial questions: when will you be thawed out? Should you wait until the medical world is absolutely ready to handle the process? Till then, we are still between science and sci-fi.
