In Flamenco, the combination of dance, singing, guitar and shouts of encouragement consume our senses. The dance is the visual extension of the cante (the singer) and it is the rapid heelwork, footwork and hand clapping that hold our focus. This triptych portrait profiles Simone Pope and the elegance and subtlety of Flamenco dance.
The images were taken during a dress rehearsal and showcase the twisting and circular arm movements that produce a counter-line in the back and the circular and fanning movements executed with the wrists and fingers. The lower torso has been grounded to accentuate the extensions.
