“1: Tell me something about the image?”
I created this image for a client with a newborn baby. I had been wanting to put a newborn into a dew drop for a while and this baby was so new I was able to photograph it in a position that it would be in if it were still in the womb.
I wanted the image to have a bit of class so I kept it fairly simple and stayed away from bright colours so it didn’t look all cutesy!!
“2: How did you create it? ( you don’t have to give away any secrets ),”
This image is made up of several photographs – The baby, wings from an insect, the dew drop and a couple of different coloured and textured backgrounds.
“3: What version of PhotoShop did you use?”
At that stage I was using version 7 – I also use a Wacom graphics tablet – I really don’t think I could create this kind of work with a mouse.
“4: Any tips or tricks you would like to Share?”
Layers, layers blending modes and more layers…..
Give your eyes a rest – go away and come back and even look at your image from a distance. Sometimes i turn my image upside down – I find it easier to spot mistakes this way.
I am always happy to answer photoshop questions – I have plenty I’d like to ask too.
“5: How did you go about learning PhotoShop?”
I first saw Photoshop being used by a photographer when I was working as a freelance makeup artist. It was Version 1 and it made a pretty big impact on me.
Years later when I got into photography I worked at a studio in their digital darkroom where I picked up a few tricks. I am mostly self taught though.
