Southbank, London.
After living in London for 9 years, it’s no secret that i’m not a huge fan of it these days. It’s too aggressive, there are too many people and it’s expensive.
However, there is something about being on the Southbank, at the weekend..when people are mellow and generally enjoying the views..that comforts me.

GOOD photo! NICE words, too. ;-)

Yes, I think, you are right living in London…which is where I’ve been living for all of my entire life…will drive you completely INSANE…the people are both RUDE and AGGRESSIVE…I guess, they are FIGHTING to have their OWN space…consequently even neighbours don’t talk to one another much unless strictly necessary! Too many people ALL being crammed together like a bunch of sardines in a tin…it’s stifling…; and, you never really know exactly who to trust…it makes one feel PARANOID! Too much CONCRETE JUNGLE, as well! How much I prefer WIDE OPEN SPACES with LOADS OF GREENERY…always, I’m thinking of moving to countryside/or, maybe, to go and visit seeing Wales! However, there are certain places where things tend to ease off a bit…and, one of my fav. walks is by the River Thames and along the Millenium Mile…including visiting seeing the South Bank…where you get to see lots of tourists/and, also, loads of sights…including Houses of Parliament/Big Ben/Tate gallery/-etc. Here you’ve taken a very ‘peaceful’ photo; maybe, it’s the black and white colour scheme which gives it that sort of illusion; in reality, the places is always hustling and bustling; to me, this also looks like late evening which again is far less busy than the day. This reminds me, I need to go out there and learn to take my own photos of London, soon; because what if I were to leave, and, then, have no personal record left of the place?! Instead, I should be out there photographing all of my fav. places in London.; the places I tend to haunt more regularly. Truly, both your words and your work is ‘inspiring’.

  • Wow.. thank you Paul. I think London tends to bring out so many emotions in us.
I love the South bank too.. a great place to people watch.
Hope you find some peace in the country Paul =)
